Guides
Six guides, each one a full treatment of a subject rather than an introduction to it, with a set of shorter articles underneath going deeper on the specific problems. Start with whichever describes the program you are running.
None of this is gated and none of it requires an account. We build canvassing software, so the fastest way for us to be useful is to be straight about how the work actually goes.
Guide 01
The fundamentals, and the ones that transfer everywhere: how a universe becomes a walk list, what actually happens in thirty seconds on a doorstep, how to train someone into it, and how to keep them safe and coming back. Read this first if canvassing is new to you or to your organization.
Guide 02
A campaign field program from the first voter file export to the last hour of election day: cutting universes, recruiting and keeping volunteers, the switch from persuasion to turnout, and the arithmetic that tells you whether your program can reach its number in the days remaining.
Guide 03
Door-knocking treated as an operation rather than a personality contest: where territory quality comes from, what a script is for, how the good reps handle the first objection, how deals actually close on a doorstep, and what changes between solar, roofing, and pest control.
Guide 04
The management layer above the doors. How turf gets cut and balanced, why route order is worth more than most managers think, what a field director does hour by hour, how to choose a stack, and how to tell a program that is working from one that is only busy.
Guide 05
What a program has to get right before anyone knocks: solicitation permits, do-not-knock registries, lawful hours, gated communities and posted signs, canvasser identification, and what you may keep about the people you talked to. Written for the manager standing up a program, and deliberately without a state-by-state table, because those are wrong somewhere and stale everywhere.
Guide 06
Every canvassing operation is a retention operation. Where good canvassers actually come from, how to interview for a job that is mostly rejection, what each pay structure quietly rewards, coaching that changes behavior, and why week three is where you lose people you have already paid to train.
